The Le Mans 24-Hour Race , the world's oldest and most prestigious endurance
race for sports cars. First held in Le Mans, France on the 26th May 1923, the race
now takes place every June on the Circuit de la Sarthe under the auspices of the
Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
24LeMans.co.uk is brought to you by a crew of regular visitors to this great race. The
site plans to provide information on the race and all the other great reasons for
attending this unique sporting event.
Tens of thousands of Brits go every year to what is probably the greatest motor race on
the planet. The atmosphere is superb and a long weekend of eating, drinking, laughing
(oh! and motor racing) is available to all who want to partake. The only danger is that it
usually becomes an addiction, not many only go to Le Mans once !
2009 was another great race with the the Peugeot 908s finally triumphing over the Audi's. Corvette took the GT1 honours,
in their last outing under the GT1 category. Team Essex, in the Porshe RS Spyder, took LMP2 ahead of the Lola Judd of
Speedy Racing. The Ferraris again dominated GT2 with the Risi Competizione team taking the class win. The weather was good,
no dramas on the way down or back. The bar was good, the music rocked, (especially the Stranglers on race night) the drink
flowed as usual and thanks to our new chef the food was even more varied than usual. Roll on the 2010 race !!!!
So sit back, grab a beer and have a wander round the site. If you are a Le Mans virgin, the
site should give you all the information you need to make a successful trip and if you are a
seasoned Le Mans Veteran, hopefully you can find something new or different to interest you.
Access for the Pilsner Pirates crew is here.
